Overview

ControlType is a speech-to-text application that runs entirely on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how ControlType handles your data.

Data Collection

ControlType does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data. All speech processing happens locally on your Mac using an embedded AI model. No audio recordings, transcriptions, or usage data ever leave your device.

Microphone Access

ControlType requires microphone access to capture your speech for transcription. Audio data is processed in real-time on your device and is immediately discarded after transcription. No audio is recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere.

Accessibility Access

ControlType uses macOS Accessibility APIs to detect focused text fields and inject transcribed text. This access is used solely to deliver transcribed text to your active application. No information about your screen content, keystrokes, or application usage is collected or stored.

Network Usage

ControlType does not make any network connections. The Whisper speech recognition model is bundled within the app and runs entirely offline. There are no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or update-checking services.

Data Storage

ControlType does not store any user data. No transcription history, audio recordings, preferences, or personal information is written to disk beyond the app's own binary and model files.

Third-Party Services

ControlType does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or SDKs that collect data. The speech recognition is powered by OpenAI's Whisper model running locally via the whisper.cpp library.

Children's Privacy

ControlType does not collect any data from any users, including children. The app is safe for use by users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the app with an updated revision date.
